Join MASITE and YPT Philly for an exciting and informative bike tour of Philadelphia!

Led by Adam Smith, Central District Manager in the Office of Multimodal Planning, and Kelley Yemen, Director of Multimodal Planning for the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Services, this unique tour will showcase Philadelphia’s transportation infrastructure while enjoying a ride through the city’s streets.

Like many cities, Philadelphia has faced challenges in implementing new street layouts—including resistance to change, auto-oriented success metrics, funding limitations, parking and loading concerns, and land use conflicts. Project managers have tackled these issues through years of work on initiatives such as painted bikeways, parking-separated bike lanes, and complete street designs—all aimed at improving safety for every roadway user.

This tour will highlight community-led responses to common objections against separated bikeways. Project managers will share how they coordinated with diverse stakeholders—university safety officers, civic groups, non-cyclists, and general roadway users—to navigate political and timing challenges.

The ride is level and accessible to beginner and intermediate riders. Please wear light clothing and athletic footwear. (Indego E-Bike recommended.)
